Your Result: Literature Nerd

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it's eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today's society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.

It's okay. I understand.

Mostly posting for my own reference so I will remember, but I was thinking that I would do a series of short stories that take place in Geis so that I can get more of a feeling for my world. I know that there's going to be a comic, but Geis is so complex that I want to explore it as a world further, but since the only characters I would want to write a novel length work about are currently engaged in a D&D game that is being turned into a web comic (slowly but surely), I am stalled. I also have the next arc planned for after the current story line ([livejournal.com profile] rokk_lobster will most likely kill me when all is said and done) but I really don't feel like starting that yet because I want to see how the Ou'ran and Nix characters develope as well as Kimi and Anhala. So I think in this series I want to do stories about

Gibson...I was thinking about what his life would be like typically and what's he's really like when he's not being scary and mysterious, like what he likes to eat and read and how he keeps the ladies at bay and such

the Dragon Lady....I know that my players loathed this character, but I'm intrigued by her, maybe something about her in her younger days so I can write about the nobility on the island of Havlos.

One of the members of the church of the turtle god...I haven't decided who yet, maybe from the perspective of someone searching for Kimi or maybe someone after Kimi has been long dead and gone

Nix's mother....lesbian cat sky pirate that's a cross between Roseanne and Reba, how are you not intrigued

How Gibson got the Albatross from the king and queen of faerie. The picture of the ship that [livejournal.com profile] rokk_lobster drew was so cool that I decided that that particular vessel needed a history...this story would probably involve the trio of dectives formerly employed by Anhala before my players came to live with her (Rosie, Lurch and ....damn, what was the spider morph's name?)

Teenage Anhala

The nomads that ride the sunlight

And one about the rebel leader Haji, whose name is now Hakkai because I said so.

Oh and one about the exploits of certain characters on the Boggle estate...after my players have finished that arc so I don't give anything away...mwhahahahahahah

And finally I want to try my hand at horror, so I think I will write about what happens to one of the smaller floating isles when the Church of Silence comes to town.

Man, I had to send back The Crimson Sword today. I got fifty pages into it and just couldn't go on anymore. I picked up this book because I have had a hankering for swords and sorcery and dark lords and elves and magic items and such, except well, I can't do it anymore. It's not that these types of fantasies are badly written, because they're not, I read The Da Vinci Code and Eragon.  But unlike The Da Vinci Code, which though written by a hack, had decent enough pacing and action and characters, these books are all the same. That's not necessarily bad, I am reading them because they are similar to what I have read before, but, my god, if you are going to imitate the others that have gone before, discard what they have done wrong.

So in summation: novel isn't just a book. It also means a new kind; different from anything seen or known before: a novel idea.  So by definition, shouldn't a fantasy novel be the novel-est of all?
