I already posted this to [livejournal.com profile] library_grrls.

Hello all! This is my first time posting in this community although I have been a long time lurker. I have a question and need some advice.

I work at a small urban library that is currently having problems getting kids, particularly tweens, to participate in children's and YA programs. I am setting up a manga discussion group because I know that there is an immense interest in them (they get stolen and checked out constantly, and the kids are always loitering in the section). However, we have tried manga discussion groups before and they failed miserably, mainly due to low attendance. We suspect that our flyers for the program is just not reaching the right kids. So my question is, how do you reach reach out to your communities to drum up support and attendance for your programs? We only put flyers in the schools and at the information desk. Are there other things you have tried? All suggestions are welcome because I really want this to be a success; it's my first program, so I'm really floundering.

Help me please!

Thanks!
