Finished Swordspoint. It was spectacular. So sad I had it in my hands about six years ago and couldn't get through it. But I suppose the time just had to be right.

Alec and Richard 4ever.

Wow. I can't believe it, I'm a shipper. I never ship, ANYONE. Oh well.

I love Swordspoint so much. Alec/Richard is so dementedly loving - caring without seeming to care. There's a quote from somewhere that pretty much sums them up for me: "Like a pair of scissors - even when they pull away from each other they're always joined and they punish anything that comes between them."

Yes. I adore them. And usually I don't like romance in books, they tend to throw my off, but Alec and Richard's relationship was so different and complicated that I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the community info :).

I think part of it is that romance is so often either tagged on or used as a plot device, whereas the Richard/Alec romance is integral to the book. It's the primary device for revealing their characters and it's not so much that it's a plot device than it simply is the plot, because very little would happen if they didn't love each other.

Oh yes! That's exactly it, you've hit the nail on the head.

So, do you think I would make it through the book okay or is there not a chance in hell? I mean, if not it is okay because I have a stack of books to read already.

Most likely not. Okay, not. I took a chance with the Keys to the Kingdom and I was pretty sure that wasn't quite up your alley, and this definitely is not.

Sad, because everyone seems to really like them.

Eh, you don't like politics and you don't like boys and that's the whole novel. But IT was awesome, if you wanted to try, but like I said, there aren't any of the things you look for in a novel in Swordspoint so with so much else to read, I wouldn't bother.
