Should have gone to bed early last night, but nooooooooooooooooooo, I stayed up and watched the last five episodes of Tactics. There was much sniffling. So it looks like there is going to be another season of Tactics? Does anyone know? Because me google-fu has failed me.

No, there's only one season of Tactics. The manga is still ongoing however, and is a lot different from the anime, in both tone and plot. (And Suzu doesn't exist.) I believe it's up to three volumes in English, published by Tokyopop.

(Yes, Haruka ♥ I have an ongoing love affair with him AND all of his clones. Because there's essentially a clone of him in almost everything either of those ladies write.)

Oh! Also, if you're into that sort of thing, there's canon Haruka/Kantarou porn here (http://sadame.fake-wings.net/media.php?doujin). :3 (I say "canon" because it's written by the original authors of the series as a doujinshi.)

Lol, thanks for the info. I actually just bought the manga and am enjoying it, although the lack of Suzu is kinda sad as I enjoyed her. Also, thanks for the porn! It made my day :).

Yay, glad you enjoyed! There are other yaoi doujinshi they did for Tactics, but unfortunately they're all really rare and bringing one of them over was all I could manage, and no one else has yet taken up the torch. :( I wish someone would! I really want to see Subjective Late Show. (In which Kantarou is somewhat inexplicably a cat boy, of all things.)

Yes, I heartily agree! More yaoi doujinshi would be marvelous. But I can't say anything because I lack bilingual skills and thus can add nothing. I think Tactics might just be one of my new favorite things. And this makes me happy because I haven't had anything to blather about since I finished watching all of the Saint Seiya?Knights of the Zodiac I could get my hands on.

Oh, I'm not bilingual either - my Japanese ends at knowing the kana and a few words here and there. I used Shopping Mall Japan to buy it off of YJ auctions. The real problem in getting them is the cost - they're all really rare and cost insane amounts of money (end cost for Love Sick after auction fees, courier fees, and shipping was around 250 dollars, holy shit), so unless you're rich (which I'm most definitively not) it has to be a joint venture, and you have to spend a looooong time trying to snipe at every auction that comes up. I spent just under a year getting donations from people and checking YJ auctions about every other day. If anything is proof of my irredeemable pathetic geek-hood... XD

Tactics is one of those fandoms where I'm past my all-consuming obsession, but I never really get tired of it either. It's just so charming.

Oh my, I had never realized how expensive it would be to bring one over. I love books and all things print related but I would balk at something that expensive. However, I am now doubly appreciative for the translated scans I have seen.

Charming is exactly the word for Tactics! But I must admit, I am flaky and will probably be squeeing over something new soon...I have dilettante-like tendencies and am shallow. Oh well, for now, hooray for Haruka and Kantarou.

Doujinshi are usually pretty cheap, like 6-12 dollars, but some of them just keep going up and up as they get rarer, if they're well liked. However, you can see a Raiko clone banging a vampire!Haruka clone in Nekrateholic for cheap! (Of course, you could also just wait for it to come out in English - DMP has licensed it.)

I'm usually that way too - I'll be completely obsessed with something for a month or two and then it'll be on to something new. Some things trigger long term obsession though - right now that thing is Mononoke. :D

OOOOO, I definitely saw the Ayakashi with the medicine seller? That's Mononoke? I've seen clips and have been interested but must admit am confused as to what is what.

Yes! Mononoke follows the Medicine Seller through various story arcs fighting various Mononoke. It's even better than his arc in Ayakashi, as far as storytelling and art direction go. Visually, it's incredibly stylized and gorgeous - [livejournal.com profile] motorbike described it as "like looking at 10,000 consecutive frames of Gustav Klimt having sex with Picasso and Hiroshige," and god it's so true.

I'll stop before I start drooling embarrassingly, but yes, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 8D

Klimt? Picasso? Hiroshige? Sex? I must see this anime. I have seen screen shots and I must admit the art does look very lush and gorgeous. I do like stylized things. Went through a Gankutsuou kick for awhile after reading "The Count of Monte Cristo". I must track down Mononoke immediately!

What is Tactics? I've never heard of it.

Tactics is an incredibly nifty little anime/manga that centers around a folklorist/excorcist/onmyouji in a weird mix of Japanese historical eras and the demon eating goblin that he um, tames? I happen to heart it quite a bit right now. Even the fiancee likes it, so apparently it is safe for the menfolk. I find it funny and anachronistic and highly entertaining. Highly recommended, yo.

I don't really watch a whole lot of anime these days. I don't have a computer good enough to download any, nor do I have money to order it, plus all my friends that I hang out with most of the time aren't at all into anime type stuff. The last anime I followed even somewhat closely was when Full Metal Alchemist was on adult swim for the first time like two and a half years ago.

Yeah, I shouldn't have gotten into anime, expensive habit that. Especially when you're the only one who really likes all of it. My friends are picky about what they watch. I followed Full Metal for awhile...then my favorite character died and that was the end of that.

If I had access to certain ones I would watch more of it, but all I have is what's one digital cable, which isn't much. I'm kinda going through a D&D phase right now. First it was star wars and sci-fi, with a little anime and fantasy, then anime mostly, now mostly fantasy, specifically Forgotten Realms.

Yeah, what I like totally goes in phases, too. Eventaully I'm going to crave Forgotten Realms novels and sit down and read like twenty of them. I can feel it coming. "Realms of War" came in at the library for me and I did a happy dance. There's a Pwent story. And an Elaith Craulnober story as well. This makes me happy.

Thibbledorf (sp) Pwent? and I've heard of Elaith, but have no idea who it is. There's a story about Rivalin Tanthul from the Twilight War trilogy that I'm interested in.

The very dwarf :). I highly recommend Elaine Cunningham's books in the Songs and Swords series. That's where you'll find the majority of Elaith related stuff. Plus the main characters Danilo Thann and Arilyn Moonblade are made completely of win. AND she wrote a series, the name doesn't come to mind now, about Gromph Baenre's daughter. Those were cool as hell, too. I, too, was interested in the Rivalin story, I momentarily forgot about it whilst squeeing about Pwent. I <3 the Gutbusters.

Yeah, I used to really like R.A Salvatore's stuff, but not as much. He used to be my favorite character, but now I realize I like some of the others so much better. Plus I don't like the direction he went with the Orc King book. I've only recently started to branch out to like Twilight Wars, the Fighters, the Dungeons, the Year of Rogue Dragons, things like that.

Lotsa people say that about RAS and I kinda agree. Like, I don't think he's a good writer at all, but I've been reading the Drizzt books since I was eight and loved them so very much that I just keep going despite my better judgement. See, I was kinda cool with the "Orc King" because I was relieved to see that orcs were becoming actually characters and not just monsters for people to mow down. I kinda like orcs.

Well, I think that's kind of cool, I just think jumping way in the future and killing off all the other characters, who kind of make up for Drizzt being all emo and static charactery. I mean sure, he decided to sex Catti-Brie in the Hunter's Blades and decided to kill drow when they attacked Mithral Hall, but he should have killed them in the first place cause they tried to kill him first and he should have sexed Catti-Brie because . . .well, why not? Anyway, getting rid of all the other characters and fast rforwarding a really pretty cool war were not good moves on RAS's part. Plus, it's kind of a spoiler for what happens in 1385 and all the world changes they're doing, which I assume has to do with $th edition, which I'm gonna hate.

"he should have sexed Catti-Brie because . . .well, why not?"

Lol, that makes my day. But yeah, I do think that the Drizzt series needs some new blood because Drizzt is so emo pants. I had a bunch of podcasts I made where I read his journals and did a running commentary....It's almost impossible not to make fun of him.

Well, I'm not the best to ask about Catti-Brie (am I spelling that right?) cause I'm a sucker for redheads. Also, is he going to keep writing about Jarlaxle and Artemis? They just got a new dwarven side kick, so they should keep having adventures, dammit! I didn't read all of the Orc King, just the first chapter or two. Did he meet any cool new companions?

Actaully, yesh, he goes back and describes a lot of what happened during and after the war with the orcs and everyone's there. Wulfgar leaves though. Catti-brie becomes a wizard, or at least starts to learn spell casting and and Tos'un that dark elf becomes, I wouldn't say "good", but allies with the elves of the Moonwood. Oh and some elf dude named Hralien gets a lot of action. I am hoping that Tos'un and Hralien will be about in the next installments because they are pretty damn cool. He also kills my favorite character from "The Thousand Orcs" arc, so I pissed about that.

Who was your favorite character from "the thousand orcs" story arc?

Innovindil. I really liked her, it was nice to have another female character around besides Catti-brie. The way she died pissed me off, too.

Did she die in the Orc King or during the Hunter's Blades trilogy?

I am pretty sure she died in "The Orc King", however, maybe not because they all run together for me.
