So, I got Devil May Cry 3 Soooper Speshul Edition in the mail yesterday, as [profile] rokk_lobster    brought it to my attention that I do not own it and have not played it and the fourth one is out for the X-Box 360 already. Of course I had to remedy this situation right away. I love the Devil May Cry franchise because it is short on substance and long on crazy silliness. But, it's been awhile since I played one or two, and thus I have lost my immunity to how ridiculous the game can be and spent the first fify-four minutes of game play dying and redoing the first two missions because I was cackling too hard to concentrate.

Where to begin? Oh yes, the second cinema, the one in which Dante is sitting at his desk like some Noir detective of old....and then he gets a phone call and slams his feet on the desk causing the receiver to fly from its cradle into Dante's waiting hand. It also lauches a piece of pizza from a box on the desk and when Dante is finished with his call, the pizza is caught in his waiting mouth....

Then some guy shows up...and the fighting starts...and wow. At one point, Dante overturns his pool table, sending the pool balls flying in formation into the air, then he pulls out his gun, shoots them and they all go spinning off to take out bad guys. Demon in the side pocket, or some other one liner equally as bad. Also, he goes and attemtps to play the jukebox, to you know, get the party started or whatever it is he says all the time, and it won't work and I was like thank god because that would be too much, but then he slams it like the Fonz and lo, it spews bad metal and we are treated to more cinema in which Dante miraculously fights while eating pizza and the pizza does not A) lose its toppings or B) make Dante's hands too greasy to wield sword and gun. I would like to know what pizza company that came from so I can avoid it because the pizza is most assuredly made of plastic. Did I mention he was shirtless through this whole episode? Well he was, and I would have drooled relentlessly, but well, it's Dante and he's so damn ridiculous.

And then Dante storms outside where yet another twenty to fifty baddies are waiting; He throws his sword into the air so he can put on his coat. But does he put it on like a normal person? Of course not, he does some weird swishing, swirling martial arts-esqe move with his coat; all the while his sword is in the air, mind you, and somehow, after like two minutes of gravity apparently not working, he catches his sword and proceeds to say yet more pissy one liners at the demons. And sneezes, thus bringing the buildings that are still standing on his street crashing down.

And I'm laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes and I can't hold the controller right. Needless to say I died alot. I totally forgot about those damn stoopid style points. I don't like doing combos because I'm the kinda gal that just likes to keep pressing the same button until everything is dead. So my hunter ranking is like D. Boo.

Anyway, I'm just putting it out there that I think Devil May Cry 3 is, as of right now, the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen or played. And I love it because it's awful.

I used to have a copy of that game, but I lost it somewhere along the way. I remember thinking how rediculous it was myself, but yeah, fun nonetheless.

Oh yesh, it is fun for all the wtf, mate, moments. I have recently found out that the orde of the games is not the order that they were released and that techinically, as far as story goes, this one is the first one. So maybe things will make sense now? But somehow, I don't think so:). Just that kind of series.

That was the only one I ever played. My friend had a copy of the first one what seems like yesterday, but was in fact like five years ago. I think the first time I went to this friend's house I was looking at the case for it because I didn't actually know the kid at the time and was just there because he was friends with my other friend. Anyway, I lost my copy of DMC 3, but I never had to pay for it, so oh well.

Ah, I see. Tis okay, you're not missing much. I like it because it's so painfully awful. Tis the same reason I blathered endlessly about Saint Seiya/Knight of the Zodiac awhile back. I have weird tastes.

Yeah, I kind of play certain games if I want story, then play other stuff if I just want mindless gameplay. I haven't played anything with good story in a while though.

Unfotunately, neither have I. I started to replay FFVII and then wandered away and then I picked up a survivor horror game called Kuon, but I'm such a wuss I haven't picked it up since corpses started falling from the ceiling. Although, I guess Phoenix Wright is going well and I'm enjoying myself. Actually, [livejournal.com profile] rokk_lobster and I are saving for a PSP so we can play Crisis Core....except I think he thinks that he's going to get to play it first, but we'll see about that, I punch harder.

I want to get one because one of the Kingdom Hearts sidestory games is coming out for it. Also, a friend of mine lost the third disk to my FF VII, so I can't play that all the way.

Ooo, I totally forgot about the Kingdom Hearts game. That's the one that involves the Organization...or am I confusing it with the one coming out for the DS....

I thought I already replied to this. Must have been when my laptop died. I don't know which is which, but I made a point to get a DS in anticipation of them. I didn't expect to like the DS but it's so cool.

You know, that was my thought about the DS, too. I thought it was kinda ghey when it first came out, but now that I have one, I am constantly impressed with how cool and innovative the games are for it. I'm playing this "Hotel Dusk" right now and it's so neat. You hold the DS like a book and play an old school, noir detective.

That sounds cool. All I have is FF 3 and Castlevania portrait of ruin. Oh, and a Starfox game that came with a case. I really want Mario and
Sonic at the Olympics. I have this friend who all we do when we hang out is pictochat, so if we both had Mario and Sonic, we'd have more to do. Also, there's a new Advance Wars game and Phantom Hourglass looks cool. There's really kind of a lot I would like.

Oh man, FF 3 on the DS rocks my socks! I love it! And of course I have the Castlevania game which is full of win...or if could be me just loving everything that has to do with Castlevania.

Fighting Dracula with Death looming over your head is such a pain the ass though. I haven't actually played my DS in a while. Been reading books and doing other stuff too much.

Video games are like that though. I have such a short attention span. I have about 13 different games going on various systems and have not beat them. To tell the truth, I think the only games I've ever beaten in my life were Myst, Menzoberrazan, FF VII, Kingdom Heart One and Two....hum and that's it I think....need to start finishing things....

My list is kinda small, too. Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance one and two, KH one and two, no final fantasy games, oddly enough, Chrono Trigger (Probably my all time favorite), Shadow Hearts Covenant, Demon Stone, Zelda: A Link to the Past, Dirge of Cerberus, and that's about it. My list of games I'm in the middle of is usually three times as long.
