Herodotos called. He wants you to reread the parts in The Histories where he describes the Persians. Also, phalanxes work better when the soldiers are wearing armor and not man-diapers.

Just passing along the information, it's been circling around the old brain pan since I was subjected to the puke fest that was your comic book adapted into a movie. I thought maybe this might not have been pointed out to you yet.

Also, never, ever take the Greeks at face value, especially if you're using their vase paintings for reference. The Greeks were idealists. Also, never underestimate their douchebagery-ness.

They also didn't fight naked...most of the time.

Also, most of the Greek cities kept slaves. In fact, the Spartans were pretty much the worst as far as this was concerned (look up the helots). In fact, probably the most generous and egalitarian nation of their contemporaries? The Persians. I know you claim that 300 is supposed to be a Spartan campfire tale and therefore exaggerated in their favour, but since you don't, like, criticise that in any shape or form, it's hard not to take it as tacit approval.

(and I wondered wth I slept through a movie with man skirts and flexing muscles...and had no interest to try to watch it again...)

Yeah, 300 was all about manmeat...and I, shallow woman that I am, am so about hot, hunky men, half-naked. But 300 was like all the qualities of Western masculinity that I am turned off by distilled into one dismal two hour machismo fest without an ounce of humor. Sighs.

Oh my god, YES. I KNOW. The movie makes no historical sense and is as empty as a halloween mask. I was so excited to see it for the cinematography and effects alone, but was left so irritated by the end. GOD. Miller is such a bigoted jerk.
