Lol, is wrong if I start telling people that the scar from surgery is because I wanted to be a human pez dispenser? Because I've been to the store twice and each time some one has asked about the scar. I'm not actaully upset by the question, just the reaction. Because when I tell them I had surgery and they removed my thyroid, the questioner always proceeds to ask why. And I tell them about my cancer scare and then everyone gets quiet, and then we're all sad.

So, I also think I might say, "A tiger attack." and leave it at that.

Heh, Dad used to tell people the scars on his chest from an old surgery were from a shark attack. :)

...It occurs to me that that would be profoundly annoying! I mean, it's pretty natural to ask "how did that happen?" when you see someone with a wound that didn't have a wound before, but for people to be all SOLEMN whenever you explain! How awkward. :\

Tiger attack sounds good to me. Or Vorpal Bunny. :3

Vorpal bunny makes me think I might get the holy hand grenade throne at me, lol. Like, I understand the question, I might ask it, too, if I sorta knew the person like these people did, but then to get all sad and bummed out when I was trying not to be a downer. It just makes me feel awkward.

People are nosy. I understand being nosy, I am super nosy, but it's borderline rude to say "WOW, HAY SCAR, WHAT THAT FROM". You say thyroid. "WHY WHY WJHY WHWYWHWYWHWY" because it is their business. I will be your bouncer and deflect any and all unwanted questions, comments, and concerns.
Also, your icon: I watched The Fall two days ago, and I love love love love love it. LOVE IT. "Is not time for sleep!"

"Is not time for sleep!". OMG, were you SOBBING during that part, because I was!!!! Omg I love that movie, like forever and ever amen, type of love. When I first watched, I stared at the tv screen for a very, very long time after it had finished. I couldn't believe I had just watched it. Oh so beautiful, so wonderful. Let's go throw oranges at priests.

I'm with the pez dispenser, but you have to do it deadpan and not move a muscle or smile or giggle when they stare.

Then here's a list of alternatives:

-They removed my parastic siamese twin.

-I had myself computer chipped so now I can speak binary: 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 1...

-Stabbed in the throat during a mob hit...yeah, but you shoulda seen the otha guy.

-I had a coin purse and zipper put in.

-It's nothing. It's where the alien hatched from.

XD

Miss, was that book you were telling me about called "The Lost"? Because I can only find Lost by Gregory Maguire, and Wikipedia and google give me nothing, and your GoodReads is no help at all! Unless I heard it wrong.
I picked up the Icarus Girl today, happy readin'.

Yay about Icarus Girl! It occurred to me as Ryan was driving me home and I was half asleep that I had given you the title of a book nigh near impossible to find. The title is the The Lost and it is by Jonathan Aycliffe. I read this once, long ago when I was a bitty baby shelver first starting at the library. It scared teh crap out of me...although for years I thought maybe that it was because I finished it in the dark at the church I used to answer phones for, but, after searching for an absurd length of time, I found it again and found, to my pleasure, that it held up to a re-reading. I am not sure what it is about this particular title that makes it so difficult to find on first try, but here is a linky to it's info on Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Jonathan-Aycliffe/dp/0061054836/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236663748&sr=8-6. I am quite sad to see that it has such low ratings, but I guess that my take on it is not everyone likes a Victorian ghost story. This one feels like a modern day version of "Turn of the Screw". Hope that helps! The anime!Count of Monte Cristo approves of this book, as well. Okay, I didn't have an icon suitable for ghost stories, so the Count of Monte Cristo has to do because he is almost Victorian...
