Somewhere along the way*, Drizzt Do'Urden acquired a magic, bell bedecked unicorn that he rides. I don't know when this happened, or why, or whatever, but it is FANTASTIC. I don't know how I freaking missed this development but IT is even BETTER than the emo scarf and fingerless gloves he acquires in The Lone Drow trilogy.


LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWLS. I can't stop laughing.




Of course I have the next book pre-ordered on Amazon...I have a disease and it can't be cured. Send cards.


Also, I will love forever anyone that draws me Drizzt riding his MAGICAL, BELL BEDECKED unicorn wearing his emo scarf and gloves and carrying his journal. I have nothing to offer but my eternal gratitude and the chance for you to draw the most special scene EVAR.





*Probably during Ghost King which I didn't read, but skimmed, hoping against hope that it would not keep up its slow, long spiral into more bad than usual. (It didn't).

So what you're saying is that Salvatore wishes he were a shoujo manga artist.

It's not even the unicorn so much as it is the image of an elf guy with the long silver hair wearing a scarf and fingerless gloves.

I think the series would be better if RAS invested himself in some shoujo tropes.

Needless to say, he is unintentionally hilarious. Because Drizzt also journals and slept with a bear because he was too nice and nature loving to kill it.

Now, I haven't read The Pirate King, but I think I read The Ghost King, and there WERE NO UNICORNS. I though I was pretty much on top of this series? Well, at least until the last bookstore moved 90 miles away...But still? So, um, what color was this unicorn again?

I think there was a unicorn at the end of Ghost King, but it may have been a vision...there was also that unicorn in the earlier books that let Drizzt touch him and that may be where RAS is reprising it from. However, I was first made aware of the Drizzt unicorn while reading a sample chapter for the newest installation of the series on his website:

Everyone in Mithral Hall knew the bells of Drizzt Do’Urden’s magical unicorn.

Slender and graceful, but with lines of powerful muscles rippling along his shimmering white coat, ivory horn tipped with a golden point, blue eyes piercing the daylight as if mocking the sun itself, bell-covered barding announcing the arrival in joyous notes, Andahar trotted up to the edge of the boulder tumble and stomped the ground with his mighty hoof.
“Good ye come, elf!” Pwent yelled to Drizzt.
