So, I have been vomiting my head off for the last three days and now I am feeling slightly less dead, so it is back to work and school for me. I kinda wish I was still throwing up.

There is good news. While I was away, a stack of periodicals relating to the state of the country have piled up on my desk and according to the Atlantic Monthly, The New Republic, and The Nation it looks like the Democrats have a very good chance of taking back the senate by a very wide margin. Thus rendering one of my predictions obsolete, but it's cool, because I wanted to be wrong about the Republicans winning the Senate. However, the House looks a little more iffy, with key seats in Ohio going to the Republicans, so that means go out and vote my dear friends. We need the House and we need it not to be in the hands of conservativie wing-nuts who apparently don't understand the concept of free country. Also read a statement about why the Democrats shouldn't put out a detailed agenda. If the put out a detailed agenda, it give the Republicans a chance to attack them about specific things and then jam the country into political debates that shouldn't really be the territory of the government, like who gets birth controll or abortion or whether or not gays can teach children. If they keep their agenda vague, which they have, the news and pundits won't pay attention and attention will then be focused on how piss poorly the Republicans have managed their time in office and how big of an asshole Bush really is. So hooray for ambiguity! And if you hear any Democrats complaining about how there is no agenda, tell them to shhhhh and focus on how screwed up the country it. It's not like I think electing Democrats will actually FIX anything, but it will keep things from getting worse and probably keep more of our freedom in tact and in this age, that's about as much as you can ask of the spineless ass wipes on the Hill.

All of my holds came in today. So tonight I shall fall asleep with visions from Lord Dunsany and Cthulu dancing in my head. Hooray for old horror and fantasy!

Erm, don't wanna go to school tomorrow, mum. I don't wanna read and share my crappy poem. Nope.

Also, Hooray! For Saiyuki. I sat down and demolished volumes one through seven last night. Hooray for hot guys doING violent but hot things and the funny. I like that Sanzo is convinced you can catch stupid.

I didn't know that Lovecraft was influenced by Lord Dunsany. That is awesome. And it makes sense, although, apparently the influence is most seen in his earlier short stories and I can't get a hold of them. He apparently wrote pastiches of Dunsany but than gave up because he felt Dunsany was inimitable. Coolness. Not that that is probably news to anyone familiar with Lovecraft, but it excites me.
