BOOK! QUOTE! SHARE!
Oct. 24th, 2007 07:17 pmSometimes when I'm reading, I run across a sentence or passage that just makes me stop because there is something that is so forceful or beautiful or funny or poignant or strange about it. And I like to share because no one reads exactly the same books as I do and when I share the sentence or passage , it's kind of like sharing the book.
Here's one from today:
For the first time in his young life, the Prince felt a fierce kind of happiness, rimmed with light.
That's from The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden by Catherynne M. Valente.
I've just started the book, but so far it's strange and shimmery and kind of like an Arabian Nights for the modern reader. I like her prose, it's glowy and weird, if at times awkward.
Alright, done sharing for now.
