Trilobites had crystalline, stone eyes made from calcite?
At least that's what it sounded like from the little bit of Evolve I heard last night while desperately trying to clean up the shop vac full of crap of I dropped down the stairs.
That is so cool, though! Like really cool. It never occurred to me that an eye could be stone. Now I want to make a world where trilobite eyes are used for stuff like decorations and jewelry and magic.
