So, I know that I've read some books that I never would have read because I've been someplace and was absolutely desperate for something, anything to read. I read my one and only Danielle Steel novel, Malice because my mother had grounded me and taken all of my reading material. She never, ever dreamed I would have read a Danielle Steel book or she would have hid that, too. I was trapped for a summer at my almost completely illeterate relative's and I had only brought two books. By the end of summer, i was desperate and I raided their bookshelves for the only two pieces of fiction they owne. They had Dean Koontz's Dragon Tears and Harrison's Hannibal. I read my first and only book by Fabio out of desperation.

So that leads me to my question: What have you read out of desperation for something printed and bound? I know one of my cousins read blue prints for a summer because that was the only thing in the house. C'mon, we all have book and story that we wished we didn't. I want to know what your's is my flist friends.
