It's like the nutters can spot a heathen atheist a mile off. All this week has been one big bitchfest about abortion. Then, I flip open Commonweal to see what the hell they have to say about the horror that was the passing of Proposition 8. Never made it to that article because I started with the back and saw this lovely editorial:

An Unnecessary Debate
If those in favor of legal abortion would just think clearly for a moment, we'd hear no more about abortion "rights". A single fact should end the argument: Search the world and you won't find one person who would have given his or her mother the right to abort his or her life.

Er, found one. I wouldn't, as a growing ball of cells in my mother's womb, have been able to make that kind of decision, let alone be aware of myself, therefore, if my mother would have chosen to abort me, I would never have been aware, wouldn't  be writing my response right now. I would not have existed, and because I would not have existed, I wouldn't care whether or not my mother had aborted me. However, mum, you can't get rid of me now. Which seems to be the confusion that of many an anti-human rights advocate suffers from, once a fetus is born viable into the world, then killing it becomes a little iffy.

Besides, I dare you to find one person who would be hard put to make the case that say Hitler or any other mass murderer shouldn't have been aborted. See what happens when you use a fallacy for a logical argument.

Ah, tis snowing and going to be a nightmare driving home at eight, but that's okay because I have the next three volumes of Yotsuba&! and the next volume of Daniel Abraham's The Long Price Quartet.  Did I mention this series is made of win? Because if I haven't, it is. I'll post more when I'm finished with the first volume. Did I also mention I'm off tomorrow and I have a whole bottle of raspberry wine left. This is going to be a nice, but cold night of books and wine. And probably a cat. My sister left with her cats and he is now the only cat, and very, very happy about it.
