In which I show my age

So, whilst looking up "the Stanky Legg" and "the Halle Berry" dances to see what the hell they were because we are apparently having a hip-hop dance off as our summer reading program end-party....I have come to the conclusion that Youtube comments are the internet's version of hell. No, really. They are like Tartarus or the frozen waters of the Cocytus. Nothing much going on there but pain and torture and darkness. Blech.

Oh The Lightning Thief, I was hooked on you, adored you, really. Referring to the Furies as the Kindly Ones (that's a very obscure reference, yay Aeschylus!), satyrs as prominent characters, grumpy exiled Dionysus, sweet premise....really, really ♥ed you....but then you had to go and jack off to the whole "Western Civilization" thing. Uh....TOTALLY ANACHRONISTIC AND WHAT THE HELL? NO THE GREEKS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CIVILIZATION AS WE KNOW IT. THEY WERE WEIRD ASS MOTHERFUCKERS AND THE WORLD WE LIVE IN HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH THE WORLD THEY LIVED IN /end rant....which leads me to believe that maybe Rick Riordan is an English major with a classics background and might not have as sound of a history background as I had originally hoped.
