Now I am sad

Remember the oposum that I wrote about? The one that drove my dog nuts a few nights ago? Well, um, it's dead. Our garbage can was filled with water and it climbed in and drowned. It even had a little piece of the blue recycle bag it was raiding stuck to its snout, so there is not doubt that it's the same one. I think it's been there since Sunday. It was kinda gross. I dumped the can and buried it before going to work. I am saddened. I will have to find a lid for that can or at least make sure it doesn't  fill with water again, so as no other little critters drown. I'm not horribly sentimental about nature or animals or anything, because I eat them and all, but it's such a horrible waste for them to die because we are selfish and can't take the time to slow down when we are driving or to make sure our garbage cans are locked tight.  Oposum friend, Pip smokes this cigarette for you. I hope you are in the trash bin of your choice in the after life.

I don't do so well with sad things in public. I'm one of those nervous laughers and I know it so I try to joke about things, as it doesn't always work, but sometimes it takes the edge off and is better than me standing there with my mouth open.
