I am going to go ahead and start the online bookclub. The first selection will be Maragret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale". Official rules, prompts, and discussion topics will be posted July 1st, which is the date that the reading of "The Handmaid's Tale" shall begin. This book club will focus primarily on works of "science fiction" and "fantasy" but since I do not like genres, I will most likely skip about with the selections. I am doing this to expand my horizons as well as others', so the titles I pick will have some sort of literary significance, even if it is minor and or debatable. So as a warning, there will most likely be a few books that will be either A) not to your particular taste, dear members or B) may not make so much sense to be included in a "sci-fi/fantasy" book club, but do not doubt, I will have a reason! And most importantly, I am no dictator, so if you absolutely cannot get through a selection, do not worry, the flogging shall be minor. "Among all human constructions the only ones that avoid the dissolving hands of time are castles in the air."

So, members, born of the River Lethe and through the Gate of Horn, we shall arrive at the dreamlands of literature's shores.

Oh oh oh oh! I read it! I wrote an article about it, even though no one told me to! I took notes!
It made me make a shirt that reads:
PROUD OWNER OF A VAGINA (in red, naturally)
aaaannnndddddddd
other assorted reactionary...well...reactions.

Newsome

Can you tell I was excited?

I am not surprised that you've read it! I read it, too, a long time ago and someone was talking about feminism and sf on one of the ljs so I thought it an appropriate selection. If you want to join in on the discussions, feel free!

P.S.
Yay for the Sufjan Stevens.
Newsome

P.P.S.
Atwood's book "The Blinf Assassin" is also good, and almost trippy. It's like a book in a book in another book.
Still Newsome
