I would like to report that I forgot to put the eggs in my Black Magic Cake Made of Awesome But Mostly CHOCOLATE. However, this was not as disastrous as I had originally thought because now the cake has a much more fudgy consistency, like brownies, brownies slathered in my mother's Sooper Seekrit Chocolate Creme frosting. Also, colored star sprinkles make everything way better.
The buttermilk biscuits tasted like there was still too much salt in them but the parental units insisted that they were really good and ate all but three of the dozen I made and all the country gravy, so I guess that dinner went well tonight. The buttermilk scrambled eggs difinitely went over well.
My mum wants to know what I'm making tomorrow. I cooked for them last night, too. I sauteed chicken in sesame oil with some garlic and ginger and then added cabbage strips, crimini, shiitake, and portobello mushrooms, some carrot chips, snow pea pods and bean sprouts with just a little bit of this teriyaki sauce I found in the cupboard. Then I put it over brown rice and served it with a bowl of egg drop soup because I found out it was deceptively easy to make. My soup wasn't as pretty as something prepared in a restaurant but was definitely yummy. Next time I'm going to make my own broth so I can control the salt content and how rich it is. Store bought broth just ain't cutting it.
