Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei volumes 1&2

darkelf105This series is about a cranky, suicidal school teacher who dresses like it's still the nineteenth century and the class of goofy, bizarre girls (and one boy) he teacheswhines to. The first volume is basically devouted to introducing all of the characters and their weird quirks. I actually don't remember anyone's name, just their bizarre quirk, but I think that's intentional. The best part of the manga includes a chain of stalkers and a girl whose hobby is yanking on animal tails. I loved it.
The second volume was so ridiculous. I laughed out-loud through most of it. It was so weird. Let's just say the Map of the Universe include Kim Jong Il and a stalker whole. Commodore Perry shows up to class and opens everything. My favorite part of this series thus far are Zetsubou-sensei's wild, tangetial, hysterical and convulouted ruminations on life.
I recommend this series to people who like the bizarre and enjoy scratching their heads going "Lolwhut?" Trust me, for those of us who appreciate the ridiculous, Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei is an answer from the manga gods.
