Anywho, I finally replaced the PSP that was stolen from Ryan and me and finally got a copy of Final Fantasy Dissidia. And I resent it because school has started and I’m not going to get anything done because I freaking love this game! The premise is that the gods Chaos and Cosmos in their epic battle for the fate?control?bff rights? of the universe have recruited “warriors from all the lands” and these warriors happen to be the main characters and villains from Final Fantasy I-X. Awesome. It’s like a twelve year-old’s fanfic, complete with utter ridiculousness and moments of almost sublime pleasure. Have you ever wonder what Cecil, Cloud, Tidus and Firion would be like in a room together? Question answered. Ever wondered how much more angst could be fit in a room with Squall? Question answered and the answer looks a lot like Sephiroth. Ever want to see Cloud present a rose to Firion and have your brain start squeeing in the sheer yaoi probability of it all….oh yeah baby, that’s in the game, too.  Also, did I mention it’s gorgeous? And that all the character designs seem to based on Amano’s artwork for the series? And that there are points in the cinematics where the characters really, really look like the art from all the game covers?

 

It’s a fighting game, with a shit ton of crazy ass controls and modes and attacks and crap you can unlock as you gain PP and story points. Needless to say, it is almost beyond my meager gaming abilities, even on casual, the easiest setting. But fear not, I shall prevail, for there is epic hawtness and ridiculousness and sheer silliness awaiting me. I think my favorite part of the story-mode of the game so far has been the glimpses the player gets of the villains. I laughed my ass off when no one wanted to play with Jecht.

Needless to say, Persona 3, Devil Summoner 2, Devil Survivor, Black Sigil and Eternal Poison are all on hold. Although I may start replaying FF IV because playing through Cecil’s story-mode made me miss the game, even if the DS version has really bad voice acting and bobble-heads.

 

Also, really wish I woulda finished II, because, omg, Firion is my new favorite pale-haired Final Fantasy bishounen. I can’t believe it, I find him tastier than Sephiroth.
