Hahaha, I love reading manga. I am currently reading volume five of Bleach and I come to the chapter (is that what you call it?) called "Crossing the Rubicon". Ishida challenges Ichigo to see how many hollows they can fight by crumbling what he calls "hollow bait" to the wind. Now that's totally awesome, because, once he has scattered that to the wind, they have reached the point of no return (thus the Rubicon reference) but Ichida also says "The die is cast" which is what Caesar supposedly said when he crossed the Rubicon during the Roman Civil Wars. So it all ties nicely together. Awesome, so whilst not as layered as, say, Shakespeare, still pretty damn cool.

[livejournal.com profile] rokk_lobster, you will be glad that I did not let you pay twenty dollars to buy the "Cleric Quintent" at Border. You are now the proud owner of a slightly used copy that I filched from a box of donations. We can't use it, as its spine is broken, so now it is yours :). Also grabbed you a slightly used copy of "Servant of the Shard". Aren't I the bestes girlfriend evah?

Sorry Nicky, but I just finished Bleach 5 and I do not mind the "hair fairies" at all. They're kinda cool. Here's a wikipedia article on the fairytale where Orihime's name comes from. I think that is supah cool; sorry, no Orihime hate from me. (Although, Kon is still my favortie character.) "Taking out her hairpin, the Goddess scratches a wide river in the sky to separate the two lovers forever (thus forming the Milky Way, which separates Altair and Vega)" more references to Orihime's power this one taken from the link in the Tanabata article on Qi Xi.

Huh, now that I look more closely at the Tanabata article, it seems that there are a lot of elements from "Bridge of Birds" there. Neat. I love it when my hunches are correct and things relate back to other things.

Now that I Tthink about, there was something like the concept of the Shun Shun Rikka, I think, in "Journey to the West" (not Saiyuki the real thing), but my copy is four volumes long and I am too lazy to go and relook it up. Although it happens close to the beginning, when Goku is in charge of the celestial peaches....maybe that's why it doesn't bug me, I 've seen it before.
