Amazon's Kindle...does anyone have one/want one?

Because I think I might, but it's 300.00 price tag is a bit of a downer...so do you think it would be worth it? Thoughts?

I've got one. The screen is really nice, so it's much easier to read on than my DS (which I was putting books on before). On the other hand, I can't use the wireless access because there's no coverage here - I did know there wasn't going to be, but you definitely want to check a map before getting one if that's important to you.

But I think it's kind of like MP3 players in the early days, in that it's probably only worth buying if you are morally okay with some piracy. For me, at least, the selection of books is too small, and the prices are ridiculously high - they're always more than a new physical copy of the book would be, sometimes two or three times more, and they're worth less than the actual book because they've got DRM. It makes more sense to buy the book and then torrent it or get it off RapidShare or something.

I think I'm thinking more in terms of space? I have very limited room and sorta kinda would like to not rent certain books from the library because I know I need to spend some time with them, but I also don't really want a physical copy? I was a little disappointed in the prices. I was looking on Amazon for possible titles for my theoretical Kindle library, and did notice that they were almost, in some cases, the same as a physical hardcopy of the title, but in others were quite a bit cheaper, but none of them were actually the same price or higher, so that might make it worht it, too.

I am okay with piracy.
