Feb. 25th, 2007 11:43 amGotta hit the books. And write my short story for class. And track down a copy of Peter S. Beagle's "A Fine And Private Place".
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, speaking of Beagle-sensei, I got my copy of "The Last Unicorn: The Lost Version" and what a thing of beauty it is! It is very rare to get that kind of intimate glance into a writer's creative process. I was so enthralled I finished the whole eighty page manuscript in a half an hour....and let me tell you....I despair as I will never write like that. Even lost and alone in the wilderness the man's writing is genius. Hell, the whole thing reminded me of stream that exists only for itself and keeps going, not to any particular destination, but just to go because that is what streams do. Loop back on themselves, talk to themselves, ramble and come to no particular conclusion. I would have followed Beagle's stream anywhere...even if it led to nowhere. And yes, I am sad that Azazel got cut, but I will have to track down "You Can See By My Outfit" as he says that he and his friend Phil are essentially the demon. So in conclusion, if you are a fan of "The Last Unicorn" or Monsieur Beagle, buy this! Which will be my only consumer recommendation for awhile because usually when I recommend something, I expect you to get it from the library.

on 2007-02-27 06:42 am (UTC)It's almost always going to be cheaper to buy Beagle books from someplace like Amazon or your local bookstore than it will be from us, but then, Peter gets more than half the money from each of our sales, so we don't have any room to shave the margins.
