Gotta hit the books. And write my short story for class. And track down a copy of Peter S. Beagle's "A Fine And Private Place".

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, speaking of Beagle-sensei, I got my copy of "The Last Unicorn: The Lost Version" and what a thing of beauty it is! It is very rare to get that kind of intimate glance into a writer's creative process. I was so enthralled I finished the whole eighty page manuscript in a half an hour....and let me tell you....I despair as I will never write like that. Even lost and alone in the wilderness the man's writing is genius. Hell, the whole thing reminded me of stream that exists only for itself and keeps going, not to any particular destination, but just to go because that is what streams do. Loop back on themselves, talk to themselves, ramble and come to no particular conclusion. I would have followed Beagle's stream anywhere...even if it led to nowhere. And yes, I am sad that Azazel got cut, but I will have to track down "You Can See By My Outfit" as he says that he and his friend Phil are essentially the demon.  So in conclusion, if you are a fan of "The Last Unicorn" or Monsieur Beagle, buy this! Which will be my only consumer recommendation for awhile because usually when I recommend something, I expect you to get it from the library.

I'm glad you liked it. My favorite part is Dante put me in your book! You'll have to read the Dr. Lao book now and let me know how similar it is to the Midnight Carnival.
Also mom bought a new router so there is wireless internets at my house now.

A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE will be back in print as of May, in a new trade paperback edition from Tachyon Publications. You can get it at all the usual places, and personally-autographed copies can be pre-ordered now from http://www.conlanpress.com.

Why thank you for that information. I shall buy it new instead of used as I was planning. Do you work for Conlan Press? Because if you do, I admire how you managed to track down that entry :). Anyways, thanks again, I would much rather have a new copy of "A Fine And Private Place" as it is my favorite Peter S. Beagle novel.

I'm Peter's business manager, and founded Conlan Press to help deal with certain of his publishing problems. The new edition of AF&PP will be out in May, as noted, from Tachyon Publications. Right now we are only offering pre-orders for a personally-autographed version, priced at $25. But in a few weeks we're going to be changing that, at which point we will be offering an unautographed version at $15 (the list price), a signed version for $25, and a personally-autographed version for $35.

It's almost always going to be cheaper to buy Beagle books from someplace like Amazon or your local bookstore than it will be from us, but then, Peter gets more than half the money from each of our sales, so we don't have any room to shave the margins.

Well, you are one dedicated business agent, but since you took the time to comment on my lowly journal on behalf of one of my favorite authors, I will most likely stop by Conlan Press's website and buy my copy from you. In the future, I will make sure to buy from your site as well. I am all about supporting authors. Thanks again for the info....I just need a paycheck now and the book shall be mine......

Thanks! But no rush -- the book won't be out until May, and there will be plenty of copies.

By the way, if you want to keep up on all of Peter's news (and there's a lot of it this year), you might want to go by www.peterbeagle.com and sign up for his free email newsletter, THE RAVEN.

I'm hopping in here, but have you considered a new release of The Last Unicorn? My Roc version is looking rather shabby, and I would kill for a chance to get a new copy of the book with a cover similar to the Lost Version.

Your timing is impeccable. In this week's RAVEN newsletter I'm announcing a new hardcover LAST UNICORN that will also incorporate "Two Hearts" plus two (yes, two) introductions by Peter and an afterword conversation by him and me both.

The cover art will be the same art being used on our CD audiobook edition -- a painting by Leo and Diane Dillon.

Awesome! Consider that one order placed as soon as possible.

My order as well :). That is my book budget for the month.....ah, but it's in a good cause as my copy of "The Last Unicorn" is looking very tattered...it's one of the titlest the cat likes to gnaw on when he's mad about something.

I actually took pretty good care of mine, it is just not very well made to begin with.
