I have decided....
May. 6th, 2006 10:22 amI have recently been reading many books by people who have decided to read one hundred novels and or books in a certain amount of time. So I decided to read 100 novels in six months. So from now until October 31th, I shall try to read one hundred novels. Granted, my reading list will probably not be as well-rounded or edifying as Janet Smiley, but I have decided to start with "The Count of Monte Cristo", then Tanith's Lee's "Metallic Love", then "Little, Big", and after that....well, dunno.
The point of this exercise is to help expand my reading horizons, just a bit. I still will probably never be able to read normal fiction like my friend Jen, but I thought I could dig up obscure titles that had an impact on the fantasy and science fiction genres, so I will be reading those mainly. I like older fiction in general and will most likely peruse the classics section at the library to see what I can find. It's just that my mind has felt so scrambled lately, and I've been reading a ton of non-fiction and haven't done a concentrated reading of fiction like this since I was little. I will also probably do a "re-reading" month, because as I think about all of the books I own, I noticed quite a few that I read five or ten years ago and haven't thought about since. So I think I will add the Dark is Rising series and the Earthsea Cycle to the list as well as His Dark Materials Trilogy. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to comment!
